Golden leaves, harvest, hot air balloons, and enjoying the last bits of warmth before winter hits - it's Fall in Taos. And with that, Holidays with family and friends, abundant feasts, and smiles are just around the corner, yet for many, this pleasant picture is not what they are experiencing.

"Several of our clients at The Giving Tree have various circumstances that effect their ability to afford even basic needs such as food. With high cost of living in Taos, high energy bills, and low wages, even hardworking families struggle. We serve the elderly, those disabled or unable to work, single mothers, families with children and low income, those who have no home at all, or live alternatively. Whatever the case may be, the Holidays, are often a harsh reminder, of the difficulty to keep the lights on, much less purchase a decadent meal and all its fixings, depicted by most media in America. It can be a hard time of year for many," says Director of The Giving Tree Christalyn Concha.

The Giving Tree is a local Clothing Bank and Food Pantry that currently serves 3,473 individuals in Taos and surrounding areas, and has been in operation since 2011. Thanksgiving is their largest distribution day of the year, with many clients lining up for supplemental help to feed their families for the Holiday. From Turkeys, to potatoes, green beans to stuffing, The Giving Tree provides clients with Thanksgiving Meal options, and has been able to do so through fundraising efforts (Dance to End Hunger), generous donations from churches, individuals, and local businesses.

On Friday November 17th, the Third Annual Dance to End Hunger, will commence featuring Djs Julia Daye, Chrystalline andRyan Leon, providing a variety of Dance beats - from Latin to soulful, tribal to tech house, and all for a great cause! All ages are invited to enjoy an evening of dance, family, friends, fun and food, to help Taos Families in need. All the proceeds raised will go to purchase Thanksgiving Meals, for The Giving Tree's distribution on Wednesday November 22nd 12-3:30p. There is a $10 cover for adults at the door, with kids 12 and under free. Those who sponsor a Household's entire Meal with $25 donation will receive a free CD and Zia Energia Beverage.
